About Us
Our Story
On a sunny afternoon in Bondi, after a transformative massage session, a curious client inquired how to learn the unfamiliar massage techniques that he had just experienced. Brandon Raynor, the massage practitioner, informed him that the massage techniques were a fusion of his own unique style along with a combination of different modalities that he had learned at various natural therapies schools over the past ten years. Understanding time limitation, Brandon realised that he could train someone to be an effective massage therapist in a quicker amount of time than traditional massage schools he had attended. Brandon Raynor’s School of Natural Therapies was then born in order to address the need for a more practical way to learn massage. Something that you should know about us is that we are genuinely passionate about natural health, and we put people first – not profits.
Our Principles
Since our first massage course in Sydney, Australia in 1997, we have expanded to teach around the globe, but our core principles have remained the same:
Firstly, that the goal of every massage is for the practitioner to help their client to free up any tension, stress and emotional blockages in a holistic manner.
Secondly, it is essential to focus on hands-on learning, communication and empathy rather than theoretical material and rote learning. We teach only practical and relevant material, and therefore our students develop competency and confidence in holistic healing more quickly.
Thirdly, our courses should be more affordable and more informative than a traditional school.
Lastly, that therapists should not limit themselves to any one massage modality or tradition of healing.
Our Commitment To You
In order to represent the needs of our graduates, we established INTA (The International Natural Therapies Association), which provides a forum for professional development. INTA is also worldwide referral network for clients looking for a practitioner. INTA also allows students to receive the most up to date information from the school.
Our Code of Conduct
Raynor practitioners adhere to a strict code of conduct which governs their professional behaviour.
Our Massage Style
Holistic Healing
Brandon Raynor developed Raynor Naturopathic Massage as a holistic system of bodywork in order to integrate multiple healing systems. It has mostly originated from Ayurvedic Massage, Chinese Medicine, Lomi Lomi, Reflexology, Shiatsu and Yogic breathwork. We especially emphasize Eastern medical theory where the physical body is a gross manifestation of a subtle body composed of a life force (chi or prana), emotions and other subtle energies.
Releasing Energy
To sum up, we understand that the physical and emotional bodies are connected and have powerful effects on each other. For example, if there are physical or emotional stressors on a person, this leads to a blockage or disruption in the flow of chi or prana, which causes bones to shift out of place or muscles to tense up.
