Sciatica and massage in the Raynor style
Sciatica is a pain that occurs in the hip and can be quite excruciating. The sciatic nerve reaches down the leg also and can refer pain down the leg and into the lower back and general lumbar region.
Raynor massage is one of the most effective techniques for getting rid of sciatic pain and then stopping it from coming back. We do this by tracing tension or residual muscle tension to the source and getting rid of it from its origins. So, for example, people may have tightness in the side of their leg and this tightness will affect the sciatic nerve and causing it to feel pinched.
Sciatica can be very debilitating and can be caused by excessive use of particular muscles in the leg. Simple tasks can be become very difficult due to the excruciating pain.
What a Raynor massage therapist will do is to treat that tension from the little toe and work up the band of tension that runs up the side of the leg. We get that tension out from its source. Once that tension is gone, the nerve pain will usually go away. Muscular tension causes vertebrae to be pulled out of their normal position calling what a chiropractor would call a subluxation.
Raynor massage will help get rid of that muscular tension.
Many massage therapists understand that there is a band on the side of the leg, called the ileo tibial band, which is composed of muscles and tendons but many massage therapists do not understand that this band has its origins in the side of the little toe and that treatment is best started from the actual side of the little toe.
