Let’s start this story at the beginning. A little background about Brandon Raynor N.D. …
Brandon Raynor grew up in several countries including Canada, Malawi, the United States and Australia, where he learned to have an open mind and appreciate the many amazing cultures on this planet.
After attending Sydney University in the late 1980s and completing part of an Arts Degree, majoring in Philosophy and Anthropology, Brandon Raynor started his career by studying a Diploma of Remedial Massage in 1991 by Health Schools Australia. Brandon actually undertook his 4 year Certificate of Naturopathy with Health Schools Australia. The principal of Health Schools Australia was a Chiropractor by the name of Peter Derig. Brandon learned a lot from him and shadowed him at his clinic in the Gold Coast where he learned many techniques of bodywork from him.
Brandon also undertook a Diploma of Shiatsu and Oriental Medicine from the Shiatsu Ryoho School in 1992 in Sydney. Brandon was taught the ancient Japanese art of shiatsu which was a form of bodywork that included pressure point massage techniques with joint adjustments including cervical adjustments. These were done in conjunction with the shiatsu treatment and worked with the muscles and the body’s meridian systems that carried the ki or life force through the body as has been the tradition for thousands of years in japan, used by both healers and martial arts schools.
Brandon also completed Diplomas in Chinese Herbal Medicine and Ayurveda between 1993 and 2000 and used the knowledge of these two ancient systems of medicine to further his knowledge of the relationship between the muscles, bones, joints and life force of the human being. During this time Brandon was working at Macro Wholefoods in Bondi Junction and learning a lot from the many holistic health practitioners that frequented the store.
Brandon gained much experience working in Byron Bay between 1993 and 1995, and in the healing atmosphere that prevailed in Byron Bay at the time, he shared and learned many techniques from a wide range of other health professionals including chiropractors, osteopaths and other massage therapists. He also learned integrative breath therapy using the breath to help release emotions.
Brandon was using all the techniques and combined them into one style of therapy that eventually become known as Raynor Naturopathic Massage and Bodywork.
Brandon started teaching shiatsu in 1997 in Byron Bay and continued to practice and perfect his techniques by working in Byron Bay at Samadhi’s floatation Centre and Santos Health Food Shop, before moving back to Sydney and working at NSW State Parliament doing massages, and working at Herbal Solution, a Herbal Medicine and Naturopathy store in Bondi Beach, as well as various 5 star hotels in the city.
By this time Brandon’s massage techniques and approach were getting very well known in Sydney and he started teaching people in intensive courses how to do his form of massage and bodywork.
